Vehicles in Germany's City Found Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Officers reported they were contacted by a resident who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Approximately fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Police say they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.

Police then located many other marked cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police state initial examinations show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; officials are presently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the event," they added.

City officials announced they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for tips.

An important political figure said the incident made him speechless and had to be solved promptly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
